Established in 1819, the original Clynelish Distillery sits in the coastal village of Brora on the rugged east coast of Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. A new Clynelish Distillery was constructed alongside the site in 1967, with the two-operating side by side for a brief period. The earlier distillery was subsequently renamed Brora, while the newer facility became the sole producer of Clynelish whisky.
Highly regarded by enthusiasts for its signature waxy character, Clynelish has developed a reputation for a spirit style that is instantly recognisable to many whisky drinkers. Independent bottlings are particularly popular as they offer the chance to explore different facets of the Clynelish style, with individual casks showcasing unique combinations of honey, citrus, biscuity malt, tropical fruits, coastal character and white pepper spice.
