This 14-year-old Deanston was matured in a 1st fill Napa Valley red wine barrique, bringing vivid fruit and spice to the distillery’s Highland spirit. The wine cask contributes ripe berry and plum notes, supported by golden sweetness and a drying, peppery structure. Rather than treating the finish as decoration, the release places the relationship between spirit and the barrique at its centre. The result is a full, expressive Deanston whose fruit-led profile remains anchored by the weight and texture of the underlying malt.

The distillery
Deanston
A former cotton mill, Deanston Distillery was founded in 1966 and is located near the village of Doune in Perthshire. The distillery is powered by its own hydro turbine on the River Teith, generating energy to supply the site and even export surplus electricity.
Production techniques, including an open-topped mash tun, extended fermentation and slow distillation, play an important role in shaping the spirit. The resulting Highland single malt is known for its signature waxy texture, complemented by honeyed and fruity notes.
We seek out Deanston not only for the quality of its spirit, but also for its signature waxy character. This carries confidently through maturation and rewards exploration in a range of cask styles.
Four distinct journeys of maturation. This latest Rare Find collection brings together four distinctive single casks that explore the relationship between spirit and wood across some of Scotland’s most compelling whisky styles.
The Highlands are Scotland's largest whisky producing region, covering a vast geographical area of the mainland along with many of Scotland's whisky producing islands. Distilleries are found across diverse landscapes, creating one of the most geographically varied whisky producing areas in Scotland.
Highland whiskies are known for their wide range of styles and flavour profiles. Expressions can vary from light and floral to rich, malty and coastal, reflecting both the broad geography of the region and the distinctive production methods of individual distilleries.
This versatility makes Highland whisky rewarding for independent bottling. Their broad spectrum of spirit styles responds exceptionally well to a variety of cask types, giving opportunities to explore the interplay between distillery character and cask influence.
