BOWMORE 25 YO

On the shores of Lochindaal since 1779, the Bowmore distillery operates traditional distilling methods which honour whisky-making techniques and ensuring that the whisky produced is still hand crafted, with care and respect to create unparalleled single malts.

The distillery has an annual capacity of two million litres, with the fermentation in traditional wooden washbacks before the liquid is passed through two wash stills and then through two spirit stills. The waste heat from the distillation process goes to heat a nearby public swimming pool that was built in one of the distillery's former warehouses!

This expression is a vintage from 1997, finished in a second fill Sherry Hogshead cask.

Tasting Notes:

Waves of barbeque smoke, tropical fruits and cola cubes on the nose, a palate delivering warm aniseed, ginger sponge and juicy mango culminates in a long finish with nutmeg and dark chocolate.

OLD RHOSDHU 30 YO

Old Rhosdhu is a brand produced at the Loch Lomond Distillery. Discontinued in 2000, this whisky distilled in 1994 is one of our rarest finds.

‘Rhosdhu’ is also an internal name for a single grain spirit produced at the plant using 100% barley. The whisky itself exuded fruity and floral characteristics, a testament to Loch Lomond’s distillery set-up that tends toward maximising reflux.

Drawn from a refill hogshead cask it will never be repeated.

Tasting Notes:

A nose featuring tropical fruits with aromas of mango, orange and pineapple delivers a palate with creamy vanilla and waxy citrus. The finish is sweet and moreish.

70cl - ABV 48.6%

LITTLEMILL 31 YO

With a date stone on one of the warehouses declaring 1772 and records from the Justice of the Peace of Dumbarton noting that an employee - Robert Muir of Littlemiln - was granted the first ever licence by the Government of King George the 3rd to "...retail ale, beer and other excisable Liquors" on 2 November 1773, Littlemill is widely recognised as Scotland's first and oldest licensed distillery.

It was also notably one of the first distilleries to have a female licensee, Jane MacGregor, in 1823.

Following the final closure of the distillery in 1994, the remaining Littlemill casks were transported to Loch Lomond Distillery. This 31 YO Rare Find was distilled in 1990, before the stills were retired, and bottled by Gleann Mòr in 2022. We only have 2 bottles of this truly unique Rare Find available.

Tasting Notes:

With a nose featuring dry sherry, lemon drizzle cake and candied butterscotch, a palate of orchard fruits, bananas, a hint of mint and sweet orange, finishing with tangerine, rosewater and spiced oak.

IMPERIAL 34 YO

The distillery was built in 1897, and over its hundred-year history Imperial was mothballed and reopened several times. The only official bottling was a 15-year expression, released in the mid 1990s before the final closure and demolishing of the distillery in 1999.

This whisky was produced in 1989 and bottled in early 2024, delivering a lively 34 YO single malt Scotch whisky.

Spirits from Imperial are well known and sought out for their gentle, floral and sweet finish and this Rare Find builds on those flavours, finished in a sherry cask. It delivers a bold rich dram and is supplied in a hand built oak presentation case.

Tasting Notes:

A nose featuring walnut, blackcurrant jam, sherry and aniseed leads into a palate full and sweet, bursting with toffee, juicy figs, raisins and liquorice. The finish is bold and rich with a touch of breakfast tea.

BUNNAHABHAIN 40 YO

Whiskies from Bunnahabhain are very much a Rare Find favourite. This 40 year old not only won accolades with our team, but, also with the World Whiskies Awards this year. Chosen as Overall Category and Gold winners in the Small Batch Single Malt - Scotch Islay - 21 years and over category.

Bunnahabhain whiskies are full bodied and oily - perfect for long maturation in cask. This spirit was bottled at natural strength from a vatting of five refill sherry casks distilled in 1980, and matured individually for over 4 decades. Whilst not from a single cask, the spirit is something unique and very special as a result.

Tasting Notes:

Marmalade, pineapple strudel, soft vanilla and nougat with soft coastal notes on the nose, with a sweet and rounded palate bringing tropical fruits, biscuits, honey and delicate sweet oak. The finish hints of liquorice and candied orange peel.
