The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid and is located at Easter Elchies near Craigellachie in Speyside. Renowned for its unusually small copper stills, Macallan produces a rich, oily new make spirit that forms the foundation of the distillery's distinctive house style.
Following its acquisition by the Edrington Group in 1999, The Macallan has seen significant investment in both the distillery and the brand, supporting its continued growth, globally. As a full-bodied spirit with a distinctive oily texture, Macallan is well suited to sherry cask maturation. Of particular interest is the ageing potential of the spirit, with extended maturation developing layers of dried fruit, spice and oak.
