This 18-year-old Deanston was given a six-month finish in a 1st fill oloroso sherry cask seasoned for 12 months. The finishing period adds dried fruit, chocolate and baking spice around the mature Highland spirit while preserving its honeyed and gently waxy core. Pear, clove and a light saline note keep the profile from becoming overly sweet. Drawn from a single cask and limited to 271 bottles, it is a composed Deanston in which the oloroso influence is clear, purposeful and proportionate to the age of the whisky.

The distillery
Deanston
A former cotton mill, Deanston Distillery was founded in 1966 and is located near the village of Doune in Perthshire. The distillery is powered by its own hydro turbine on the River Teith, generating energy to supply the site and even export surplus electricity.
Production techniques, including an open-topped mash tun, extended fermentation and slow distillation, play an important role in shaping the spirit. The resulting Highland single malt is known for its signature waxy texture, complemented by honeyed and fruity notes.
We seek out Deanston not only for the quality of its spirit, but also for its signature waxy character. This carries confidently through maturation and rewards exploration in a range of cask styles.
The Highlands are Scotland's largest whisky producing region, covering a vast geographical area of the mainland along with many of Scotland's whisky producing islands. Distilleries are found across diverse landscapes, creating one of the most geographically varied whisky producing areas in Scotland.
Highland whiskies are known for their wide range of styles and flavour profiles. Expressions can vary from light and floral to rich, malty and coastal, reflecting both the broad geography of the region and the distinctive production methods of individual distilleries.
This versatility makes Highland whisky rewarding for independent bottling. Their broad spectrum of spirit styles responds exceptionally well to a variety of cask types, giving opportunities to explore the interplay between distillery character and cask influence.
