Dufftown is home to one of Scotland’s greatest concentrations of distilleries, yet the character of each spirit remains distinct. This 16-year-old single malt was given a six-month finish in a 1st fill oloroso sherry cask, adding richness to the distillery’s malt-led, nutty and gently spiced style. Citrus and pine appear first, followed by deeper cask sweetness and warming spice. The finish brings the two sides together, preserving the structure of the mature spirit while allowing the sherry influence to leave a clear impression.

The distillery
Dufftown
Dufftown Distillery is situated in the town of Dufftown in the heart of Speyside and was founded in 1895. Originally housed within what had been a meal mill, Dufftown went on to play an important role in the production of Bell's blended Scotch whisky after joining Arthur Bell & Sons in 1933.
A distinctive aspect of Dufftown's production setup is that its spirit stills exceed the size of its wash stills. The spirit is often characterised by malty and nutty notes, alongside fresh fruit and delicate spice.
Much of the distillery's production is destined for blended Scotch whisky, making independent bottlings an opportunity to experience Dufftown as a single malt. Its versatile spirit works well across a range of cask types, with bourbon casks often emphasising fruit, honey and vanilla notes, while sherry maturation can contribute additional richness, depth and spice.
The Speyside whisky producing region, centred on the River Spey, is home to the greatest concentration of whisky distilleries in the world. The region benefits from abundant water sources, a long-standing whisky making tradition and favourable conditions for maturation.
More than fifty distilleries operate throughout the region, producing a wide variety of single malt whiskies. While styles vary between distilleries, Speyside whiskies are often associated with approachable, fruit driven flavour profiles. The region also has a longstanding association with sherry cask maturation, which contributes to the diversity of styles found.
We seek Speyside whisky for its exceptional diversity. From delicate and floral spirits to richer, more robust styles, the region offers a broad spectrum of character that responds well to a variety of maturation approaches. Many of the region's richer spirits are particularly well suited to long term maturation, developing depth and complexity with age.
