Created with Drink Whisky with Friends, this 12-year-old Aberfeldy records a shared journey from cask search to final selection. Aryan and Petra joined Rare Find at The Lowland Bond to choose a whisky intended for conversation as much as contemplation. Matured in a 2nd fill ex-bourbon hogshead, it shows the distillery’s honeyed Highland character with candied fruit, baked apple, caramel and gentle spice. Bottled as a single cask, it is a collaborative release made to be opened, shared and discussed among friends.

The distillery
Aberfeldy
Aberfeldy distillery was founded in 1896 by John Dewar & Sons and is located in the Highland town of the same name. Its spirit plays a central role in Dewar's blended Scotch whiskies, where it has
been a key component of the blends for generations.
Designed by renowned distillery architect Charles Doig, Aberfeldy draws its water from the Pitilie Burn, a water source associated with gold panning.
Often referred to as the ‘golden dram’ the whisky is characterised by fruity notes, honeyed sweetness and subtle spice. Aberfeldy's spirit is well suited to ex-bourbon maturation, enhancing its natural honeyed sweetness while developing notes of vanilla and creamy richness. It also possesses sufficient weight to pair successfully with select sherry casks, adding further richness.
The Highlands are Scotland's largest whisky producing region, covering a vast geographical area of the mainland along with many of Scotland's whisky producing islands. Distilleries are found across diverse landscapes, creating one of the most geographically varied whisky producing areas in Scotland.
Highland whiskies are known for their wide range of styles and flavour profiles. Expressions can vary from light and floral to rich, malty and coastal, reflecting both the broad geography of the region and the distinctive production methods of individual distilleries.
This versatility makes Highland whisky rewarding for independent bottling. Their broad spectrum of spirit styles responds exceptionally well to a variety of cask types, giving opportunities to explore the interplay between distillery character and cask influence.
