Tasting notes

Honey
Crème caramel
Spice

Nose

Rich and beautifully composed, with golden syrup, rich toffee and warm custard alongside crisp apple peel. Beneath the sweetness lies a gentle earthiness, with soft marshmallow adding a confectionery lift.

Palate

Bright, polished oak brings structure to crème caramel, alfalfa honey and nostalgic wine gums. A layer of dry, dusty spice develops with time, adding complexity and balance to the whisky's natural sweetness.

Finish

Elegant and lingering. Grassy fruits and honeyed notes fade into a delicate impression of fine mead.

The distillery

Tormore

Tormore began production at Advie in Speyside in 1959, becoming the first new Speyside distillery built in the 20th century. Designed by Sir Albert Richardson, its Category B-listed complex was conceived as both a distillery and a community. Elixir Distillers acquired Tormore in 2022 and has since reintroduced its single malt range.

Tormore's spirit is known for its fruity and elegant character, with notes of orchard fruits, stone fruits and gentle nutty richness. Historically, this character was primarily found in blended whiskies. We believe Tormore deserves to be in the spotlight as a single malt. Its distinctive character remains clearly recognisable through ageing, allowing sympathetic
maturation to add layers of complexity without overwhelming the spirit.

The Long Game

Measured in years.Defined by decades. There is no shortcut to whisky like this. Thirty-plus years of maturation is a serious commitment. The decades have left their mark but so has everything that came before: the distillery, the spirit, the cask and the choices made along the way.

The region

Speyside

The Speyside whisky producing region, centred on the River Spey, is home to the greatest concentration of whisky distilleries in the world. The region benefits from abundant water sources, a long-standing whisky making tradition and favourable conditions for maturation.

More than fifty distilleries operate throughout the region, producing a wide variety of single malt whiskies. While styles vary between distilleries, Speyside whiskies are often associated with approachable, fruit driven flavour profiles. The region also has a longstanding association with sherry cask maturation, which contributes to the diversity of styles found.

We seek Speyside whisky for its exceptional diversity. From delicate and floral spirits to richer, more robust styles, the region offers a broad spectrum of character that responds well to a variety of maturation approaches. Many of the region's richer spirits are particularly well suited to long term maturation, developing depth and complexity with age.
